About The Artist
After completing military service and four years in the college of marketing at the University of Tennessee, Jim rediscovered art from his youth. Finding it compelling, he chose it as a career path, and after moving to Phoenix, enrolled in the Kachina School of Art. His instructor was master watercolorist, William B. Schimmel, AWS, whose excellent painting principles Jim still employs. Returning to Knoxville, Jim was proprietor of two art and frame galleries, and in 1999, began work as a free-lance muralist, working with decorators and client referrals (most welcome, valuable and appreciated). Decorators would typically ask for a variety of paint projects such as antiquing and faux finishing which broadened his interests and qualifications in the process. Working with and serving so many wonderful people, while doing what one loves, has given Jim a great sense of fulfillment, always ready for one more adventure. |
